A senior Russian general has been killed following an detonation in Moscow, according to reports from authorities.

The incident took place on Monday morning when an explosive device placed beneath a vehicle was set off, causing the death of Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov.

Sarvarov was the head of the armed forces' operational training department.

The committee stated that one possible explanation involves the potential involvement of Ukrainian intelligence services. To date, Ukraine has offered no public response.

Media coverage indicate the detonation happened in a parking area adjacent to a residential building.
