Slot Insists He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it was natural for doubts to be raised about his future following a further convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in twelve games, marking the team's worst streak since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got plenty of backing from above,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to turn it around and secure a win of course but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Talks with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “During our regular exchanges I feel the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Failings and Player Reaction

Slot expressed regret over known shortcomings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a phase such as this with results like these.”

He concluded, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And until it is gone, we'll continue to compete.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to where it needs to be, show everyone once more what this club is about and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and it must improve.”
