The former Liverpool manager says a return to manage Liverpool is conceivable.

The German coach, who departed from Anfield in 2024, remarked that rejoining the club remains something that could happen. Klopp, post a game-changing nine-year spell featuring continental glory and the Premier League crown in 30 years, currently occupies roles overseeing worldwide football with the Red Bull group and in an advisory capacity with the German Football League.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

They secured the Premier League in the previous campaign, yet numerous supporters who adore the manager would welcome the possibility that he might come back one day. In a wide-ranging interview, he shared with his interviewer: “I stated I won't manage another team on English soil. Therefore in case it's my former club...yes. It's plausible.”

“I’m 58, so I might decide later on, who knows. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. But thank God, it's not necessary. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”

Conditions for a Comeback

When asked about which situations would need to occur to bring him back to the touchline, he revealed he feels no immediate pull to such a return. “I'm not entirely sure, I enjoy my current role,” he said. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing under bad weather for lengthy sessions; I'm glad to skip press conferences multiple times weekly or having 10-12 interviews a week.

“No nostalgia for the changing area as a dressing room, but sitting in a restaurant alongside the squad talking freely, that’s nice. With many victories thus frequently a very good mood around the place. Remaining with me is Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh vividly recalled for example.”

Praise for His Successor

He spoke highly for his successor, praising him due to the changes which secured the championship last term. They've been defeated a string of losses across various tournaments after a summer spending spree, but he rubbished the notion of it representing the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker like Florian Wirtz, critics will regret if spoken against. An outstanding player. The French striker, superb talent. It’s a really good balanced team. You don’t have to worry about Liverpool, they will be fine.”

Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota

Klopp also spoke emotionally about the death of Jota, whom he brought in in 2020, and the effect on Liverpool. The forward lost his life in a car crash alongside his brother recently.

“Can you substitute a person like him? This isn't just regarding his on-field talent, it's his character. It's hard to picture the dressing room without him in it. I find it difficult to discuss on this topic. It was an incredible shock for all the boys also. Not a single person will ever use it as an excuse but it is the situation. Entering the changing area which he filled completely. Coping with it on a personal level is challenging. Unbearable.”
