The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami Dade County Mayor.

Although not quite at the same level as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the mayor of Miami-Dade had her own presidential-style act this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She deserves this act of mercy. She has committed zero crimes,” Levine Cava said in a speech with inescapable allusions to the sheer volume of pardons issued since the commencement of a new presidential term.

“If we disregard eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” the mayor added. “Let this swine have a prosperous future free from concern.”

The gathering, either celebrating or rejecting the local cultural practice of eating roast pork during the holidays, was created to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig, donated by a Coral Gables firefighter, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – deriving from a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently named “6-7” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Peaceful Retirement

The pardoned swine is now scheduled to spend its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The pig pardon has become a cherished method to open the end-of-year celebrations,” said the event host, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It embodies the spirit of Miami: joyful, diverse, and rooted in traditions that foster togetherness. Every time, we are proud to celebrate tradition and kindness in a way unique to Miami.”

Participants enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach fritters and cafecito as they marked the swine's new lease on life.
