Tottenham Boss Thomas Frank Labels Goalkeeper Critics 'Not True Genuine Supporters'

The Cottagers Start Strong to Beat Spurs and Increase Pressure on the Manager

Spurs supporters who booed keeper Vicario were told later "those individuals can't be true Tottenham fans" by boss Thomas Frank.

Tottenham conceded a pair of goals in the first six minutes to lose 2-1 to Fulham, marking their 10th Premier League home defeat of the year.

However the primary talking point was Fulham's second score when Vicario gave away the ball far outside his box.

He came out to handle a high pass and carried the ball near the touchline.

But, rather than kicking it out of play, the Italian spun and tried to clear away, but slipped as the ball glanced off Wilson and was controlled by Josh King.

King laid the ball off to Wales midfield player Harry Wilson, who bent a shot into the goal from the sideline measured at 36.6 metres.

Moments afterwards when the ball came to the keeper once more, some Spurs fans booed him.

Spurs were booed off at the interval, with the side 2-0 down, and once more at the final whistle.

A particular of those booing sessions truly angered the manager.

"I heard some of our supporters apparently booed the situation and jeered after, which, in my view is totally unjustifiable," the Dane stated about the supporters' response to his shot-stopper.

"Those individuals can't be real Spurs supporters that act that way. Alright booing after the match, no problem, but when we are playing, we are backing each other, we are behind each other going forward."

Tete had given Fulham a fourth-minute advantage prior to Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Spurs in an improved second period showing.

Ex- top-flight keeper Hart stated that the second score was "completely preventable".

"I certainly understand the fans' frustration," the ex-keeper added. "I know the role the keeper is playing. He is a great squad member, he's a true leader in the locker room but in the end you are going to be judged by your decisions.

"He was deeply implicated in what turned out to be the decisive goal."

'It's In the Game, I'm a Big Man'

Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Game

Italian international the keeper is in his 3rd campaign with Tottenham.

The 29-year-old stated after the match that he had to take the feedback.

"The second score was a mistake of my own, I take accountability for that," he commented.

"My aim was to kick the ball far and I just hit the ball in a poor way. It was an more difficult mountain to overcome."

He said being booed "is part of the game".

"I am mature, how can I respond?" he added. "The team cannot be influenced by the situation in the crowd. Supporters have the entitlement to do what they think.

"It is on us to remain increasingly composed, to focus on our own performance. We are lacking in composure and calmness to overturn results. Today is a poor loss and it is hard to accept."

'I Was Surprised No One Returned to the Line'

Despite the keeper's error, it was not an easy score for Harry Wilson to convert.

Actually it was the second most distant Premier League goal of the campaign – after Tyler Adams' 43.3 metre goal for Bournemouth against Sunderland, which interestingly also occurred on Saturday.

The goalscorer stated he was "somewhat surprised" that he still had an empty goal to aim for.

10 seconds passed between Vicario coming out of his area and the midfielder striking – which was five moments following the kick.

"I felt like the keeper was out of the area for a long time," Wilson remarked.

"I was surprised none of the defenders went back to the line. When none of them defended the goal, my interest sparked somewhat.

"[Destiny] Udogie fell as well, which gave me a bit of extra opportunity. Then it was all about trying to achieve the right connection and get it towards goal. I had a positive feeling, as soon as it came off my boot, that it was heading in."

'During in a Bad Spell, Everything Appears to Work Against You'

Jeering Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unjustifiable - Frank

While the keeper's mistake led coverage, this was an overall bad day for Tottenham to continue their home woes.

The match was their tenth home loss of 2025 in the league, a joint club statistic matching nineteen ninety-four and 2003.

The side still have home games against Frank's old side Brentford and champions Liverpool to come before the close of the season.

Only one of those victories have come since Frank took over from Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.

"If you are behind 2-0 after six minutes, there is a huge challenge to overcome," stated the boss.

"When you're in a bad spell, everything seems to go against you as well – the first was a redirected attempt, the next is a error from Vic.

"This result leaves us in a place where we have lost another game. Each fixture has a single narrative, today we were defeated in the early stages.

"We simply need to continue striving. The later period was significantly improved and hopefully something we can use to develop."

Spurs have lost four consecutive at home London derbies for the first time in the top division.

And they are averaging nine point five attempts and 3.2 efforts on goal per match in the division – their poorest rates on record in a single season (dating back to the 2003-04 season).

Ex- Fulham midfield player Danny Murphy commented that Frank has to endure the criticism.

"He's got accept the criticism," Murphy said. "He has taken a prestigious job at a major team with massive expectation. There is scrutiny and duty that accompanies that.

"The performances at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
